While on holiday recently off the coast of North Carolina, I got an opportunity to try out flyboarding, perhaps the closest I'll get to flying an actual jet pack until scientists get off their duffs and get serious about the future. Takeaways: 1) Jet packs will be awesome. 2) Leaning back on a flyboard is a not recommended.

The JetLev Water Jet Pack
I would be remiss in my duties as editor of TiJP if I failed to mention this soon-to-be-available water-powered jet pack. Though it may not be quite the transportation revolution we've been waiting for (and promised) for fifty or so years now (which, of course, is quick airborne personal transportation for going to and from work), it does look like a heck of a lot of fun. Can someone loan me $140,000 and a cottage on a suitable lake? More info here.
